Nagoya City announced that 245 My Number cards were invalidated due to a system failure that occurred this August.

The invalidated cards belonged to 245 Nagoya residents who filed address change notifications across wards on August 12th of this year.
Nagoya City had updated the software for the “Basic Resident Register” network, but during this process, there was a configuration oversight by the contracted company, causing temporary data synchronization issues with the national network on August 12th.

As a result, 245 My Number cards whose information couldn’t be synchronized were invalidated 60 days later on October 14th.
The issue came to light when residents reported being unable to use their cards. Nagoya City is individually contacting affected residents and requesting they complete reissuance procedures.
