The Banten contingent has successfully earned their first medal by winning a bronze in the sport of Judo at the 2025 National Sports Week (PON) Martial Arts event in Kudus, Central Java.
This medal was earned by the pair Intan Oktaviani Putri and Putri Dhamma Yanthi in the women’s team Ju no Kata category.
The bronze medal from Judo marks a good start for the Banten contingent at the 2025 PON Martial Arts and proves that sports talent from the Land of Jawara can compete at the national level.
In a tightly contested match, the athlete duo from Tangerang City who are part of the Training Center demonstrated their best performance.
With a total score of 331 points, they successfully secured third place. The gold medal was won by the host Central Java, while the silver medal went to Bali.
“We are very proud to represent Banten and present this medal,” said Intan Oktaviani Putri.
Putri stated that this medal is very meaningful for her to continue training and improving her skills for the next national event.
“I’m very happy to win a medal at PON for the second time,” said Putri.
Unlike her previous experience, Putri Dhamma Yanthi felt a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere in this competition. “Now it’s more enjoyable because of daily training, both physical, flexibility, and other exercises,” she said.
The coach expressed gratitude for his students’ achievement.
“We are grateful our athletes could win a medal. Considering the opponents from other regions were quite strong. But with training and strong determination, these two Tangerang City athletes successfully presented a medal for Banten,” he said.
He mentioned that Putri and Intan were able to maintain the achievement previously earned at the Aceh PON. According to him, this success serves as great motivation for Banten Judo athletes to continue striving for achievements.
