The construction project for an underpass in the Bitung area of Tangerang Regency has entered the drilling phase for secant piles, which is impacting traffic flow around the site.
Traffic engineering trials will be conducted in the Bitung Underpass construction area.
This change in traffic flow applies to vehicles traveling from Serang to Tangerang and vice versa.
The engineering is being implemented to support the smooth progress of the drilling work while maintaining vehicle flow.
The trial will be conducted in two stages. In the first stage, traffic engineering will be in effect for three days.
The system used will be contra-flow during peak hours, from 06:00 to 08:00 and again from 16:00 to 18:00.
Under this scheme, traffic heading towards Serang will be diverted via a widened lane. However, road capacity will be maintained with two lanes for the Serang direction and two lanes for the Tangerang direction to minimize congestion.
The second stage will be implemented on the following three days. Unlike the first stage, traffic engineering during this period will be in effect 24 hours a day.
This step is taken to obtain a comprehensive evaluation regarding the effectiveness of vehicle flow management during the project.
The work area is located at a point on the main route connecting traffic flow from Tangerang, Serang, to Curug.
Several points will experience lane narrowing and shifts, so drivers need to be more cautious when passing through.
This trial is part of the evaluation before the full implementation of traffic engineering until the underpass project is completed.
Drivers are advised to anticipate potential congestion, especially during morning and evening peak hours. Drivers are also asked to obey the installed traffic signs and follow the instructions of officers on site.
Furthermore, road users are advised to consider alternative routes to avoid congestion points during the trial period.
