Banten Governor Andra Soni mediated between Indra Lutfiana Putra, a 17-year-old student who went viral after being caught smoking on school grounds, and Dini Fitri, principal of SMAN 1 Cimarga, at the Banten Governor’s Office.

Andra Soni stated that this meeting resolved the controversy between the two parties, which had previously disrupted teaching and learning activities.

Dini Fitri said that the Banten Provincial Government’s decision to issue a temporary suspension order against her was appropriate.

“This policy is to protect the education system. Schools cannot go on strike because the fundamental purpose of having school buildings is for learning,” said Dini.

Meanwhile, Andra Soni also asked Indra Lutfiana to engage in self-reflection and to resolve any future conflicts internally and amicably.

He emphasized that enforcing student discipline in education is necessary but must follow established procedures.

“The result of the meeting is that both parties have agreed to forgive each other. Therefore, Ms. Dini will soon resume her duties as principal, as teaching and learning activities have returned to normal,” concluded Andra.
