Changan Automobile recently launched the all-new third-generation Changan UNI-V. The new UNI-V comes in four variants, with official guide prices ranging from 102,900 yuan to 119,900 yuan.
Among Changan’s four fuel-powered sedans, the best-selling model is the Changan Yidong, followed by the UNI-V. Since its debut in 2022, the UNI-V has performed well in the market, selling 3,781 units in June 2023 alone, with total sales exceeding 350,000 units. The third-generation UNI-V, as a completely redesigned model, has undergone comprehensive upgrades in exterior design, powertrain, and intelligent features, further enhancing its competitiveness.
In terms of powertrain, the third-generation UNI-V is equipped with Changan’s latest Blue Whale 3.0 system, offering 1.5T and 2.0T engine options. The 1.5T version delivers a maximum power of 141kW and peak torque of 310Nm, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The 2.0T version produces 180kW and 400Nm, mated to an 8AT transmission, accelerating from 0-100km/h in just 6.3 seconds.
To enhance driving performance, the UNI-V features a front MacPherson and rear multi-link suspension chassis, along with DTV dynamic torque vectoring control and an active sports exhaust system, further optimizing handling, stability, and comfort.
For driver assistance, the new model includes features such as automatic parking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
“We don’t want to test users’ math skills with complex configurations but instead ensure every part of the budget translates into tangible value.”
Since its launch in 2022, the Changan UNI-V has remained popular in the A-segment market thanks to its robust 1.5T engine and starting price of around 100,000 yuan. Cumulative sales have surpassed 350,000 units. The third-generation UNI-V now faces competition from compact fuel sedans like the Honda Civic, Volkswagen Sagitar, Chery Arrizo 8, Geely Xingrui, and Hyundai Elantra.
While the UNI-V previously achieved monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units, its cumulative sales from January to June 2025 fell below 30,000, averaging around 4,000 units per month. Now, with its fully upgraded exterior, interior, and powertrain, can the UNI-V return to its peak monthly sales of 18,000 units?
