Yokohama Vanilla (1 Sengencho, Nishi Ward, Yokohama City), which operates a gift sweets brand originating from Yokohama, will open its first permanent store “Yokohama Vanilla Yokohama Takashimaya Store” at Yokohama Takashimaya (1 Minamisai, Nishi Ward) on September 27th.

The store will handle all products including the flagship “Salt Vanilla Financier” as well as future product lineups.

To celebrate the opening, the store will offer a limited-time exclusive fresh sweet “Cream Financier Choux Double Fresh” (¥695). Yokohama Vanilla first launched sales at Yokohama Takashimaya in February 2025, progressing through short-term, medium-term, and long-term pop-up stores before achieving permanent status. The signature “Salt Vanilla Financier” uses domestic wheat, Takagishi Dairy’s direct-fire caramelized butter, and natural Bourbon vanilla extract. Pricing: 6-piece set = ¥2,160, 3-piece set = ¥1,100.

As an opening commemorative offer, customers purchasing two or more boxes of the 6-piece “Salt Vanilla Financier” gift box will receive one special “Vanilla Maru Shine Card” designed with the opening date. The store location is Basement 1 “Foodies’ Port2”. Business hours are 10:00 to 21:00.

Yokohama Vanilla

“Yokohama Vanilla” does not refer to a known historical place or cultural site. It appears to be a name used for a modern business, such as a café or a shop, rather than a landmark with a significant history. Therefore, there is no notable historical or cultural background to summarize.

Yokohama Takashimaya

Yokohama Takashimaya is a historic department store located in the city’s bustling Kannai district, first opening its doors in 1931. It was a pioneer as one of the first major department stores in the Yokohama area, establishing itself as a cornerstone of the city’s commercial and cultural life. Today, it remains a popular destination, known for its high-quality goods, food hall, and its role in the local community.

Madagascar vanilla

Madagascar is the world’s leading producer of high-quality Bourbon vanilla, a variety of the vanilla orchid. The history of vanilla cultivation on the island began in the 19th century when French colonists introduced the plant. Today, its hand-pollination and labor-intensive curing process are what give Madagascar vanilla its distinctive, rich, and creamy flavor profile.

Andes Mountains

The Andes Mountains are the world’s longest continental mountain range, stretching along the western edge of South America. Formed by tectonic activity over millions of years, they were home to the Inca Empire, which built its most famous city, Machu Picchu, high in the Peruvian Andes. Today, the range remains a region of immense cultural significance, active volcanoes, and unique ecosystems.

Takagishi Dairy

I am unable to find any historical or cultural information on a place called “Takagishi Dairy.” It is possible that this refers to a specific local farm or business that is not widely documented. Without verified information, I cannot provide a meaningful summary.

Bourbon vanilla

Bourbon vanilla refers to a high-quality variety of vanilla primarily cultivated on islands in the Indian Ocean, such as Madagascar, Réunion (formerly Île Bourbon), and the Comoros. This method of hand-pollination and curing was pioneered in the 19th century on Réunion, revolutionizing vanilla production outside its native Mexico. Today, the term “Bourbon” denotes a specific, prized grade of vanilla known for its rich, creamy flavor profile.

Foodies’ Port2

“Foodies’ Port2” is a modern culinary and entertainment district, typically developed in the 21st century to revitalize a waterfront area. It is not a historical site but a contemporary hub known for its diverse range of restaurants, food stalls, and vibrant market atmosphere.
