Residents Willingly Queue Early to Buy Viral Donuts at Depok Car-Free Day
Depok –
Residents lined up to buy Malaysian donuts at CFD Depok, which went viral on social media. Some arrived early to secure their purchase.
Observations at the location showed crowds from Simpang Juanda to Depok City Hall, with people exercising and food vendors operating along the route.
Vendors selling food, keychains, drinks, clothes, and other items were surrounded by visitors. However, one particular stall had an exceptionally long queue.
The Malaysian donut vendor was crowded with buyers. Neatly stacked boxes of donuts were already empty. Despite the vendor still preparing more, a sign reading “sold out” indicated they closed early before the event ended.
One resident, Bintang, mentioned missing out the previous week and arrived at 6:20 AM to avoid disappointment.
“I came last time but they were sold out, so I wanted to try it today. I heard about these donuts here at CFD and saw the crowd, so I wanted to try,” said Bintang.
He admitted failing twice before finally succeeding on his third attempt. Each person was limited to buying only three donuts.
“I came twice before but couldn’t get any. This time, I arrived at 6:20 AM and barely made it before they sold out by 7:30 AM. You can’t buy many—it’s limited to just three,” he explained.
Another resident, Nur, said the donuts gained popularity on TikTok. Curiosity led her to try them after hearing positive reviews.
“They went viral on TikTok, and it’s always crowded. People say they’re delicious and sell out fast, so I wanted to try. But you can’t buy many—there’s a limit,” she said.
