This inspection was conducted in response to the viral condition of the school, which was deemed unfit and had extensive damage in several parts of the school building.
The Vice Chairman of Commission IV expressed disappointment and concern over the condition of Junior High School 26’s building. According to him, the condition was far from suitable for teaching and learning activities.
“This certainly indicates that there are problems in the planning and supervision of our public schools. This school has been operating since 2023, but in its third year, I see no visible progress either in the building construction itself or even basic furniture,” he said.
These findings will serve as important notes and evaluation material. This relates to Bekasi City’s education budget which reaches 1.8 trillion rupiah.
“Because when we compare it with our extraordinary education budget, this is very disappointing and far from adequate,” he stated.
He continued that the Bekasi City Government must immediately take emergency measures to address the unfit condition of educational buildings.
At the same location, another Commission IV member explained that given these conditions, the Bekasi City Government is considered negligent and inattentive.
Moreover, with the fantastic education budget, he stated that the Bekasi City Government has violated Law Number 20 Article 5 of 2003 concerning the National Education System.
“The government must organize the teaching and learning process properly and without discrimination. Today, there is discrimination that is too extreme,” he said.
These findings will later be coordinated with the Bekasi City Education Office and the Housing, Settlement and Land Office. From what was visible in the building area, almost the entire building appeared to be damaged.
Additionally, one table was being used by three students when it should only accommodate two students. With a total of 320 students and only 4 available classrooms, this certainly does not create a comfortable learning environment for the students.
