From January to June this year, the city’s motorcycle production reached 3.622 million units, a year-on-year increase of 23.1%, with a total output value of 53.602 billion yuan, up 27.9% compared to the same period last year.

In the first half of this year, local enterprises performed remarkably well in the highly competitive market. Three companies ranked among the top ten in national sales of fuel-powered motorcycles. In the electric motorcycle sector, leading brands continued to expand production, reaching 1.237 million units.

The overseas market remains a key driver for the city’s motorcycle industry. From January to June, the city exported 3.105 million motorcycles, a 41.2% year-on-year increase, with export value hitting 13.361 billion yuan, up 48.4%. With the global market, particularly Southeast Asia (growing at 40%), recovering rapidly, motorcycle exports have entered a new growth phase. Five local enterprises ranked among the top ten in national motorcycle exports.

While maintaining traditional strengths, the city is accelerating the transformation of its motorcycle industry toward high-end, electric, and intelligent models. From January to June, production of high-displacement premium motorcycles reached approximately 100,000 units, a 67% year-on-year increase, while electric motorcycle output hit 1.237 million units, up 33%.

The rapid development of the city’s motorcycle industry is attributed to multiple factors, including the recovery of overseas markets, national policy guidance, growing consumer demand, and the relaxation of motorcycle restrictions.

First, the mandatory national standard “Safety Technical Specifications for Electric Bicycles” will take effect on September 1, driving market transition toward safer lightweight electric motorcycles and creating significant growth opportunities for local enterprises.

Second, demand for premium models continues to rise. As younger generations become the main consumers, motorcycles are shifting from mere transportation to recreational products. The number of professional motorcycle customization shops is growing at 40% annually, while new business models like motorcycle-themed lodgings and campsites are emerging rapidly, indicating vast potential in the high-end market.

Third, motorcycle restrictions are gradually easing nationwide. Over 20 major and mid-sized cities have adjusted their policies, steadily expanding domestic market opportunities.
