The Legal Metrology Service Unit under the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs carried out inspections and calibrations of goods weighing instruments at several large industrial companies in Tangerang City.

This activity was also conducted to ensure all measuring instruments used in trade activities meet the established accuracy and legality standards, so as not to harm consumers.

The Head of the Legal Metrology Service Unit in Tangerang City stated that inspections of measuring, volume, weighing instruments and their equipment have been carried out over the past month.

Inspections were conducted at 11 companies, including PT Indah Jaya Textile Industry, PT Gajah Tunggal, PT Tiki Tangerang, PT Indofood Fortuna Makmur, PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta, and PT Varia Usaha Beton.

“We ensure that every measuring instrument used in the production or distribution process has undergone initial or re-verification, so the measurement results are accountable and do not harm consumers,” the Head said.

Additionally, this activity aims to build a fair and transparent business climate and ensure protection for consumer rights and business actors.

The Tangerang City Government remains committed to maintaining trade integrity through consistent and educational supervision.

“We urge all business actors, whether small, medium, or large scale, to actively conduct periodic re-verification of measuring instruments and not wait for inspections,” the Head advised.

Furthermore, this is important to support the creation of healthy, safe, and trustworthy trade in Tangerang City.

“In this regard, groups of traders, business actors, entrepreneurs, or the public can submit an official request to the Legal Metrology Service Unit,” it was stated.
