TANGERANG – Tangerang City is now increasingly serious about waging a war against violence against women and children. Taking concrete steps, the Tangerang City Government through the Office for Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning held an intensive socialization regarding Integrated Community-Based Child Protection and the Indonesian Shared Space, Thursday (21/5/2026).

The event, centered at the Nyi Mas Melati Building, was not just ceremonial. Attended by representatives from 104 urban villages and featuring an expert from the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, this meeting became a consolidation forum to map out the increasingly complex challenges of child protection in the digital era.

New Challenges: Not Just Physical, But Digital

The Head of DP3AP2KB of Tangerang City emphasized that threats to the nation’s future—namely women and children—have now transformed. According to him, it is no longer enough to rely solely on rules on paper; concrete action that reaches the grassroots is necessary.

“Today, the challenges faced by women and children are no longer simple. Not only physical violence, but also psychological violence, exploitation, bullying, and very real threats in the digital space,” he said in a firm tone.

He stressed that although the legal framework, from the Child Protection Law to the Sexual Violence Crime Law, is already very strong, implementation in the field remains the key. “Regulations are important, but what is far more vital is how protection is truly present and directly felt by the community,” he added.

RBI and PATBM: Organic Community Movements

The good news is that Tangerang City is now one of the national pioneers or pilot areas in presenting the Indonesian Shared Space program. Located in Kampung Jimpitan, Batujaya Village, Batuceper District, RBI now functions as a safe space as well as a center for the growth and development of women and children.

This RBI program has become new ammunition for the Integrated Community-Based Child Protection movement that has been rooted in Tangerang City since 2017. Currently, PATBM cadres are spread and active across all urban villages throughout Tangerang City.

“This movement is no longer just a government program, but has transformed into a shared, organic movement within the community. We want every cadre to be able to detect potential violence early and build a fast coordination network,” he explained.

He added that the Tangerang City Government also facilitates the Family Learning Center of Tangerang City, available on the 2nd Floor of the Cisadane Building. This facility serves as an information and consultation service for child and family issues free of charge.

“Further information regarding services and consultations with Puspaga Tangerang City can be accessed via WhatsApp at number 0896-0200-4040,” he said.

Furthermore, he continued, Tangerang City also has a fast complaint service called the Fast Service System for Complaints of Violence Against Women and Children. Reports of violence against women and children can be contacted via the website. This service serves as a shelter for victims to get protection and fulfillment of their rights in recovery.

At the end of his address, he delivered a touching message. He reminded that child protection is a collective responsibility, starting from the smallest unit, the family.

“Never let our children grow up in fear. Let us protect women and children with genuine care. Together, let us realize a Tangerang City that is truly women-friendly and child-friendly for a brilliant future,” he concluded.
