The city of Nagoya announced that a total of 245 My Number cards became invalid due to the impact of a resident registry network system failure that occurred in August 2025.

According to the city, on August 12th, a failure occurred in the city’s resident registry network system, temporarily disrupting coordination with national systems and others. It was discovered that My Number cards for 245 people who had submitted address change notifications across city wards on the day of the failure became invalid on October 14th, 60 days later, due to the inability to coordinate data. The city stated that from the 16th onward, it will individually contact those affected to apologize and provide explanations, while also requesting procedures for reissuing My Number cards.
