One suspect was killed and three others were taken into custody following a police operation connected to a series of convenience store robberies in Batangas.
A hot pursuit operation was conducted after a robbery in San Juan.
The robbery occurred at a convenience store in San Juan, Batangas around 7:45 p.m.
Two suspects forced open the store’s door and stole approximately 136,000 pesos before fleeing on a motorcycle.
In Tiaong, Quezon, police officers attempted to stop two suspects on a motorcycle. The suspects allegedly opened fire instead of stopping, leading to an armed encounter.
The back rider, identified by the alias “Lex,” was shot in the head and was declared dead on arrival at Candelaria District Hospital.
The driver, identified by the alias “Angelo,” was arrested after sustaining gunshot wounds.
During the encounter, one police officer sustained an abrasion on his left shoulder.
The following items were recovered from the suspects:
- Two .45 caliber pistols with magazines and ammunition
- A black sling bag containing allegedly stolen cash amounting to 186,170 pesos
- Two sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves, subject for laboratory examination
- A motorcycle
- A helmet
- Two fired cartridge cases
Two more suspects, identified by the aliases “Phobet” and “Hizon,” the alleged leader, surrendered to authorities.
Charges are being prepared against the suspects. Follow-up operations continue for the remaining suspect identified by the alias “Itchan,” who is still at large.
