Yokohama Vanilla (1 Sengencho, Nishi Ward, Yokohama City) held its New Product Presentation 2025 on October 11th, announcing the brand’s second product: “Salt Vanilla Creamy Sable.”
Following the first product “Salt Vanilla Financier” from the Yokohama-based gift sweets brand, this new creation features a novel texture combining sable cookies with special vanilla chocolate cream after repeated in-house prototyping. The product is finished with a sprinkle of pink rock salt from the Andes Mountains to enhance the sweetness and bring out the aroma of natural Bourbon vanilla extract.
The sable cookies use natural Bourbon vanilla extract and dough made with roasted flour, baked using a double-baking method. The cream filling has a rich vanilla flavor sweetness and is made by sprinkling pink rock salt from the Andes Mountains right before baking completion.
The product features small individual packaging and comes in boxes designed for easy sharing in workplaces and among friends. It’s also intended as a souvenir for visitors to the Yokohama area and for corporate gifts, aiming to expand recognition in the urban gift market.
“This Salt Vanilla Creamy Sable was developed with the theme ‘Premium single bites you’ll want to casually gift,’ created with the hope that people would gift it more casually to companies, friends, and many others. The characteristic features are the sable’s delicate texture and the special Yokohama Vanilla chocolate cream that melts in your mouth. We’ve completed a product worthy of being the Yokohama Vanilla brand’s second offering,” commented the company.
The price is ¥1,550 for 8 pieces and ¥2,970 for 16 pieces. The release date and retail locations will be announced soon.
Yokohama Vanilla
“Yokohama Vanilla” does not refer to a recognized cultural site, landmark, or historical place in Yokohama, Japan. It is likely a reference to a shop, a brand, a café, or a pop culture element from the city. Without a specific historical or cultural definition, it is not possible to provide a summary of it as a place.
Salt Vanilla Creamy Sable
“Salt Vanilla Creamy Sable” does not appear to be a known place or cultural site. It seems to be a description of a flavor or a dessert, possibly for a type of cookie or pastry called a sable. Therefore, it does not have a history as a geographical or cultural location.
Salt Vanilla Financier
“Salt Vanilla Financier” is not a place or cultural site, but a type of French pastry. A financier is a small, moist almond cake with a distinctive rectangular shape, and a “salt vanilla” version would be a modern flavor variation combining vanilla with a touch of salt. Its history dates back to the 19th century in Paris, where it was popularized by pastry shops near the financial district.
Andes Mountains
The Andes Mountains are the world’s longest continental mountain range, stretching along the western coast of South America. Formed by tectonic activity over millions of years, they were home to the Inca Empire, which built its famous capital at Cusco and the mountaintop citadel of Machu Picchu. Today, the Andes remain a region of immense geological activity, rich biodiversity, and vibrant indigenous cultures.
Bourbon vanilla
Bourbon vanilla refers to a specific variety of vanilla planifolia beans primarily cultivated on the islands of the Indian Ocean, most notably Madagascar, Réunion, and the Comoros. The name originates from the former French Bourbon dynasty, as the island of Réunion (formerly Île Bourbon) was a key historical hub where the hand-pollination technique for vanilla orchids was perfected in the 19th century. Today, this region is the world’s leading producer of high-quality vanilla, renowned for its rich, creamy flavor profile.
Yokohama
Yokohama is a major port city in Japan that developed rapidly after the country opened to foreign trade in 1859, ending a long period of national isolation. It became a crucial gateway for Western influence, leading to the establishment of Japan’s first Chinatown and creating a unique, international urban culture. Today, it is a vibrant, modern metropolis known for its Minato Mirai waterfront district, historic red brick warehouses, and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
