A group visited the Prime Minister’s Office on the 29th and requested the Prime Minister to strengthen support for realizing a hydrogen society. Amid rising prices of petroleum-derived products due to the worsening situation in the Middle East, they called for increased investment in next-generation energy.
In an emergency statement issued jointly by the governors of eight prefectures, they requested “strengthening energy security and expanding the global market share of Made-in-Japan hydrogen-related products.” They also called for focused support for local governments and industries engaged in research and development.
Koike told reporters, “I received supportive comments from Prime Minister Takaichi, which was very encouraging.”
