The man is suspected of stealing a mobile phone (valued at approximately 50,000 yen) from his former girlfriend on a street in Shiroishi Ward, Sapporo, around 8:00 AM.
According to police, the man waited in ambush in front of the woman’s residence before committing the act. During questioning, he admitted to the allegations, stating he stole it as collateral for money he wanted returned.
The woman was not injured.
