TANGERANG – A comfortable and healthy home is a fundamental need for every citizen. To meet this basic need for its residents, the Tangerang City Government throughout 2025 has rehabilitated 1,000 units of Uninhabitable Houses (RTLH) and built 308 healthy toilets spread across 13 districts throughout Tangerang City.

This step is part of the Tangerang City Government’s ongoing efforts to create a decent, healthy, and fair urban environment for all citizens.

The Mayor of Tangerang emphasized that providing decent, healthy, and safe housing is one of the local government’s top priorities in delivering the best service to the community.

“The City Government’s top priority is to provide the best service to the community. One of the most fundamental things is to guarantee a decent and healthy place to live,” he said when met at the Tangerang City Government Center.

He added that the RTLH rehabilitation and healthy toilet construction program is a concrete solution in addressing the basic needs of citizens, while also supporting the improvement of environmental health quality.

“That is why we present this house renovation and healthy toilet program, so that the community has decent housing and a healthier environment,” he continued.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Housing, Settlement, and Land Office of Tangerang City stated that all targets for RTLH rehabilitation in 2025 have been realized as planned.

“At the beginning of the year, we targeted the rehabilitation of 1,000 uninhabitable house units and thankfully all have been realized. The process of determining beneficiaries was carried out through strict verification to ensure accuracy,” he explained.

He also outlined that the RTLH program shows an increasing trend year by year, starting from 350 units in 2021 to reaching 1,000 units in 2025.

Meanwhile, the construction of healthy toilets has also been completed according to target and Ministry of Health standards, and is now being directly utilized by the beneficiary community.

The benefits of this RTLH rehabilitation and healthy toilet construction program are directly felt by residents. Homes that previously did not meet livability standards have now been transformed into safer, more comfortable, and healthier houses.

One beneficiary, a resident of RT 01 RW 02, North Larangan Village, expressed his gratitude for the assistance received.

“Thank God, my house has now been repaired. The application process was also easy because it was assisted by the neighborhood and community units,” he said.

A similar sentiment was expressed by a resident of RT 01 RW 10, Larangan Indah Village, who has occupied his house since 2000.

“Previously the roof was fragile and the walls had many cracks. Now it’s much better, the house is more comfortable and the toilet is also cleaner,” he said.

A public policy observer noted that the RTLH rehabilitation and healthy toilet construction program implemented by the Tangerang City Government is a tangible form of the government’s alignment with community welfare.

“Decent and healthy housing is a basic need besides clothing and food. Programs like this are important because their impact is directly felt by citizens and contributes to the quality of life of the community,” he said.

With these achievements, the Tangerang City Government is considered successful in presenting policies that are not only oriented towards physical development but also touch on social and environmental health aspects. This effort simultaneously strengthens Tangerang City’s steps towards becoming an increasingly livable, inclusive, and competitive city.
