TANGERANGNEWS.com – The Deputy Chairman of the Tangerang City Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) went directly to the Cipadu area, Larangan District, following tensions between residents and the local village administration. The conflict was triggered by the deactivation of five Neighborhood Associations (RT) in Community Unit (RW) 01, which caused unrest in the community.

The official emphasized that a solution to this problem must be found immediately so that public services are not disrupted.

According to the official, RTs are a product of democracy elected directly by residents, so the decision to deactivate them cannot be made unilaterally.

“These RTs are elected directly by the people. The village head cannot simply impose a deactivation sanction without a clear basis. This will cause conflict, and yesterday it was proven that residents came to stage a protest,” the official stated.

Furthermore, the official stressed the importance of a social approach over a juridical one. The official reminded everyone to prioritize deliberation and consensus so the problem can be resolved without widening the conflict.

“A social approach is far more comfortable for all of us. The most important thing is that public services continue to run; residents should not become victims,” the official added.

Besides the RT issue, the official also commented on the management of the self-reliant tap water (PAM), which is a vital need for the local community. The official stated that the existence of this service should be appreciated and managed collaboratively to maximize its benefits.

To find the best solution, the DPRD plans to facilitate a meeting involving representatives from the community, RT/RW officials, the village administration, the district office, and the city government. They will be invited so this issue can be resolved through deliberation.

“By sitting together, we can return to the spirit of togetherness, harmony, and local wisdom that has long been the strength of the Cipadu community,” the official said.

The official also requested the Mayor of Tangerang to immediately take firm and wise steps to restore normalcy.

“What we are safeguarding is the comfort of the residents. Policies should not trigger conflict. The DPRD is present to ensure a solution can be found promptly,” the official concluded.

According to gathered information, the dismissal of several RT heads originated from issues regarding the management of the self-reliant clean water well (PAM Swadaya) in RW 01, Cipadu Village.

However, the process of selecting new management for the PAM led to tensions. Some residents considered the process non-transparent and rejected the decision’s outcome.

Larangan District

I am unable to provide a specific summary for “Larangan District” as this name refers to several different places. It is a common district name found in Indonesia, and there is also a sub-district named Larangan in the city of Cirebon, West Java. For a precise summary, more specific location details would be needed.

Neighborhood Associations (RT)

“Neighborhood Associations,” known as Resident Trustees (RT) in some contexts, are community-based organizations formed to represent the interests of residents within a specific locality. Their history is rooted in grassroots movements for local governance, often established to improve services, safety, and social cohesion. These associations empower citizens by providing a collective voice to address issues with municipal authorities and foster a sense of shared community identity.

Community Unit (RW) 01

“Community Unit (RW) 01” refers to a neighborhood administrative division, specifically “Rukun Warga 01,” commonly found in Indonesia. These units are part of a local governance structure established to organize and manage community affairs at a grassroots level. RW 01 is typically the first unit in a village or urban ward, with a history rooted in Indonesia’s system of community self-help and local administration.

Cipadu Village

Mayor of Tangerang

The “Mayor of Tangerang” is not a place or cultural site, but a political title for the head of the Tangerang city government in Indonesia. The city of Tangerang itself, located near Jakarta, has a rich history as a trading port and is known for its significant Chinese-Indonesian community and cultural influences.

self-reliant tap water (PAM)

“Self-reliant tap water (PAM)” refers to a local, community-managed water supply system, often found in rural or underserved areas. These systems are established by communities to independently provide their own clean drinking water, reducing reliance on centralized infrastructure. The history of such PAM systems is rooted in community-led development initiatives aimed at improving public health and self-sufficiency.
