The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has allocated a budget of 100 billion rupiah for the construction of an underpass in Bitung, Tangerang Regency.

The Bitung Underpass is located on the 27.8-kilometer Bitung-Jayanti national road, which serves as a strategic route connecting Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City, and DKI Jakarta through the Daan Mogot corridor.

“Tangerang Regency through the Public Works and Water Resources Agency, along with several related regional apparatus organizations, has collaborated with the Ministry of Public Works to carry out the construction of the Bitung Underpass,” it was stated.

The construction of the Bitung Underpass is expected to help alleviate traffic congestion occurring along this highway.

“The Bitung Underpass is part of the national road. This route has very high traffic volume, compounded by massive housing development, making congestion at this intersection unavoidable,” it was explained.

“Previously, an at-grade intersection was built, but since it was considered unable to resolve the congestion, this underpass was planned,” it was added.

Between 2020 and 2021, the Tangerang Regency Government acquired more than 1 hectare of land for the underpass construction and has handed it over to the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.

“We have signed a contract with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, and the construction of this underpass is targeted for completion in 2027,” it was concluded.
