The Gerindra Party responded to the controversy regarding the aid of 1,098 sacrificial cows from President Prabowo Subianto, which used the state budget.

A Gerindra Party spokesperson stated that this aid is part of the Presidential Community Assistance program, which has a legal basis and official mechanisms within the state financial system.

“This is not the President’s personal money claimed as personal aid. This program is officially budgeted through the state budget to assist communities in various regions,” the spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, the Presidential Community Assistance program is not a new policy and has been implemented since the previous administration.

Similar assistance was also provided during the administrations of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Joko Widodo.

Presidential community assistance has so far covered various social programs such as basic food aid, livable housing, disaster victim aid, educational aid, and aid for places of worship.

The spokesperson also considered that the state has a responsibility to be present to help the community, including during religious occasions like Eid al-Adha.

“Through programs like this, the state ensures the benefits of Eid al-Adha are more widely felt by the community, especially those in need,” the spokesperson said.

Furthermore, the spokesperson assessed that the developing controversy is more political in nature and ignores the benefits received by the community.

“What matters most is that the people receive the benefits, the program runs according to state regulations, and the community’s economy also moves,” the spokesperson stated.

Previously, the Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat conveyed that the procurement of 1,098 sacrificial cows for the President this year used state budget funds through the presidential community assistance scheme.

The Deputy Minister said the total budget for procuring the sacrificial cows reached around 100 billion rupiah. The price of cows varies in each region due to weight and procurement location.

Indonesia

Indonesia is a Southeast Asian archipelago nation with over 17,000 islands, known for its rich cultural diversity and history as a major trading hub for spices and goods. Its history includes powerful Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms like Srivijaya and Majapahit, followed by centuries of Dutch colonial rule, and a struggle for independence proclaimed in 1945. Today, Indonesia is the world’s fourth-most populous country, with a vibrant blend of ethnic groups, languages, and traditions, including the famous cultural site of Borobudur temple.

Borobudur

Borobudur is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple located in Central Java, Indonesia, and is one of the largest Buddhist monuments in the world. Built during the Sailendra dynasty, the temple was abandoned in the 14th century and lay hidden under volcanic ash and jungle growth for centuries. It was rediscovered in the early 19th century and later restored with UNESCO’s help, now serving as a major pilgrimage site and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
