TANGERANG — A community organization’s headquarters in Cibodas District, Tangerang City, was raided by the Metro Tangerang City Police on Thursday (April 1, 2021). During the operation, officers seized evidence of a methamphetamine smoking device.

Additional evidence found at the location included hundreds of bottles of various brands of alcoholic beverages. The meth pipe discovered by officers appeared to have been recently used for drug consumption.

One suspect, identified as ZR (43), was detained during the raid. The location of the raid was on Borobudur Street (formerly Perum Terminal) in Cibodas, Tangerang City.

The case was uncovered based on reports from local residents indicating that the organization’s post was frequently used for methamphetamine abuse and illegal alcohol distribution. Acting swiftly, officers conducted the raid and found both drug paraphernalia and large quantities of alcohol.

“During the search, we (police) found one meth pipe along with a glass tube containing traces of the drug,” explained an officer.

Furthermore, authorities discovered 29 cases of alcoholic beverages, totaling 384 bottles, including brands such as Red Wine, Kolesom Wine, Fruit Wine, Newport, Whisky, White Wine, Rajawali, and Kamput.

According to statements, ZR admitted to using methamphetamine with another individual, AM (currently a fugitive). Additionally, hundreds of alcohol bottles were found inside a car with license plate B 1847 CUE parked at the scene.

“The alcohol was suspected to be sold at this organization’s headquarters. The investigation is still ongoing,” the officer stated.

The suspects were taken to the Metro Tangerang City Police Station to face charges. They were charged under Article 112, Paragraph 1 of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, as well as local regulations on alcohol distribution, carrying a potential prison sentence of 5 to 20 years.

JAKARTA — The Industrial Relations Court (PHI) of Jakarta ruled on Wednesday (March 31, 2021) that the termination of journalist Nurul Nur Azizah was unlawful. The court declared her dismissal on July 27, 2020, null and void.

The court found that the termination, justified by the company as an efficiency measure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, did not comply with Article 164, Paragraph 3 of the Labor Law. The evidence presented by the company was deemed insufficient to support the claim.

Nurul’s 10-month legal battle resulted in a partial victory. The court ruled that her dismissal was due to restructuring, not company-wide efficiency.

The case began when Nurul was included in a list of employees laid off on June 22, 2020, citing efficiency reasons. The company then proceeded with her termination on July 27, 2020.

Legal representatives argued that the court’s decision disproved the company’s efficiency claim, as the business remained operational—contrary to the legal requirement for such dismissals.

Following the verdict, Nurul expressed hope that companies would avoid arbitrary layoffs under the guise of efficiency and instead prioritize fair communication and legal compliance.

“Do not be afraid to fight for your rights as a worker. You have the right to legal certainty in court,” she said.
