The Narcotics Unit of the Belawan Port Police was attacked while attempting to apprehend a drug dealer identified as F alias Midun (34). During the arrest, police also seized an air rifle.
The Head of the Narcotics Unit at the Belawan Port Police stated that the arrest took place on Lorong Proyek, Bagan Deli Village, Medan Belawan District, Medan City, on Wednesday (June 3, 2026). The suspect’s arrest was the result of further investigation.
“The arrest of the suspect began with a drug investigation in the Bagan Deli area,” he said on Thursday (June 4).
He stated that officers found drugs hidden by the suspect in a bag inside his room. Methamphetamine weighing 32.49 grams was seized.
In addition, police also found an electronic scale, plastic clips, an air rifle and its ammunition, as well as cash totaling Rp 15.7 million.
“We secured 1 VCT Predator brand air rifle complete with bullets and 1 handheld radio suspected to be used in the suspect’s activities,” he explained.
However, police officers were attacked while transporting the suspect to the Belawan Port Police. He said that a number of local residents threw stones at the police. The attackers also carried sharp weapons and bows.
As a result, police officers had to fire warning shots to disperse the crowd. He reminded the public not to obstruct police duties.
“While transporting the suspect, there was resistance from residents in the form of thrown stones, arrows, and sharp weapons. To control the situation, officers took measured decisive action so that the situation returned to conducive,” he stated.
After being arrested, the suspect was taken to the police station for further investigation. Based on the examination, the suspect admitted that the drugs belonged to him. Additionally, the suspect admitted that he had deliberately prepared the air rifle for a brawl.
“The suspect admitted that the evidence belonged to him and was used in drug trafficking activities. The air rifle was also prepared for a brawl at that location,” he explained.
