A total of 150 traditional market traders in Medan participated in online sales training. This training aims to help traders improve their skills so they understand how to trade online.

The training, organized through the collaboration of the Medan Municipal Government and PT. Gojek Indonesia, was opened by Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas at the Medan City PKK Building.

In his speech, Rico Waas emphasized the importance of digital transformation in today’s trading world. This means technological progress is inevitable and changes the mindset in trading.

“We have no choice but to change, not only selling conventionally but also having to sell online. We must understand our market,” said Rico Waas.

With these technological advances, Rico Waas stated that traders are forced to understand online trading patterns. Therefore, Rico Waas considers this training very important to help traders understand how to trade online so they can market their products more widely.

“With this training, it is hoped that traditional market traders can improve their abilities in online selling and expand their market,” added Rico Waas.

However, Rico Waas noted that equally important for traders to pay attention to is how to maintain product quality and good product labeling. Because quality products are what can become a benchmark and survive in the future.

“It is also important how we can convince the public to buy our products. For that reason, we need to curate quality products,” said Rico Waas.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Policy Government Relations at PT. Gojek Indonesia stated that Gojek is committed to increasing Medan’s potential, one of which is through the digitalization of market traders.

“Through this cooperation, we hope to help economic growth in Medan starting from the smallest sector,” they said.

Previously, the Acting Director of PUD Pasar Medan explained in his report that the training participants numbered 150 people from three traditional markets in Medan, including Petisah Market, Central Market, and Pringgan Market.

“The purpose of this training is to help open access to a wider market for traders by selling online and improve traders’ ability to sell online,” they added.
