Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno invites the public to participate in the Gotong Royong Gerak Cepat Jaga Jakarta (Mutual Cooperation Quick Movement to Guard Jakarta) initiative.

Rano stated that mutual cooperation to clean public facilities affected by protest actions is not sufficient if it only involves his staff. Therefore, public participation is highly expected.

“Of course, all manpower is very limited. This means we need community participation,” he said after leading the Gotong Royong Gerak Cepat Jaga Jakarta action in the Senen area.

Rano explained that today’s mutual cooperation action to clean the Transjakarta Central Senen Bus Stop and Transjakarta Toyota Rangga Bus Stop involved 215 participants, including students, online motorcycle taxi communities, market traders, and alumni.

Regarding the potential for further protests, Rano emphasized that he and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung have never prohibited them. They allow the public to express their aspirations and demands peacefully without damaging public facilities like Transjakarta bus stops.

Rano clarified that damaging public facilities would have cascading effects leading to system failures and impacting services overall.

Beyond disrupting services, damaging public facilities would also affect the image of Jakarta and Indonesia in the eyes of the world.

Rano added that last weekend Governor Pramono Anung instructed that the Car Free Day (CFD) activities continue as a form of affirmation that Jakarta is not paralyzed and remains under control.

“Let’s work together in mutual cooperation to guard Jakarta, guard our neighborhoods. Don’t let our hard work so far be in vain,” he emphasized.
