The South Jakarta Transportation Agency (Sudinhub) anticipates potential illegal parking and extortion during the Car Free Day (CFD) event on Jalan HR Rasuna Said in Setiabudi District.

“Provision of integrated parking pockets”

The Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Agency, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu, stated that the CFD event on Jalan HR Rasuna Said has previously run safely and smoothly with high public enthusiasm. However, several issues were still identified that need attention, particularly related to parking and extortion.

“There are still two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles crossing at several points in the CFD area. Additionally, parking activities on the road cause slowdowns in regular traffic flow,” he said, Friday (5/6).

Bernad explained that based on evaluation results, in Zone 1 or the southern Rasuna Said corridor heading north, there are access issues around the Malaysian Embassy and the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

According to him, special access arrangements are needed for national vital areas and office complexes. Furthermore, enforcement of parking on the road along regular routes around the CFD area needs to be strengthened.

Then, in Zone 2, which includes Jalan Pedurenan and the Perbanas University area, potential illegal parking extortion was found.

“We need to install additional barriers on the sides of Jalan Pedurenan and Perbanas to minimize the potential for violations,” he explained.

He added that in Zone 3, starting from the Red and White Building of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to Kuningan Madya, many vehicles belonging to CFD participants were still found parked around the event location.

“We note that the provision of integrated parking pockets is a primary need for the CFD event in the HR Rasuna Said area,” he stated.

He confirmed that the South Jakarta Transportation Agency will enhance cross-sector coordination with the local Parking Management Unit to strengthen oversight of available parking pockets.

Bernad conveyed that the number of personnel in the field and the arrangement of parking locations will be further optimized for future CFD events.

“Hopefully, with thorough preparation, the upcoming CFD event can run well and smoothly without any problems, especially related to parking,” he emphasized.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared 3,687 parking space units around the HR Rasuna Said CFD area to accommodate people who come using private vehicles.

The available parking locations include Pasar Festival, Soemantri Brodjonegoro Sports Hall, the Rasuna Epicentrum Area, Setiabudi One, and the Nyi Ageng Serang Building.
