Depok Health Office Encourages PIRT to Implement CPPOB to Create Safe and Quality Products
To ensure the quality and safety of processed food in Depok City, the Depok City Health Office provided special guidance to operators of Home-Based Food Industries (PIRT) regarding Good Processed Food Manufacturing Practices (CPPOB).
This step aims to ensure that business operators not only understand the importance of implementing CPPOB in the production process but are also able to produce products that are safe for consumption, of high quality, and meet licensing standards.
It was explained that CPPOB is an important guideline that must be implemented by every food business operator. This guideline serves as the basis for applying for a P-IRT certificate and is a form of the producer’s responsibility for their product’s safety.
“The implementation of CPPOB is not merely about meeting administrative requirements to obtain a P-IRT certificate, but more than that, it is a manifestation of the business operator’s commitment to maintaining quality and protecting public health,” the official explained.
During the guidance session, business operators were instructed on various important aspects of CPPOB, including cleanliness of production facilities, worker hygiene, raw material control, hygienic production processes, distribution record-keeping, and packaging and labeling according to standards.
It was added that by consistently applying CPPOB, business operators have the opportunity to develop their businesses from a household scale to small and medium industries (IKM), and even gain access to broader markets, including exports.
“Through this training, we aim to foster awareness that food products are not just about taste, but also about safety and responsibility. With CPPOB, business operators can upgrade their operations and become more competitive,” the official stated.
It is hoped that this guidance can be a momentum for PIRT operators in Depok City to further strengthen their commitment to maintaining the quality of processed food products.
The 2025 Technical Guidance on Independent Implementation of CPPOB activity was held on October 9 at Margo Hotel and was attended by PIRT operators from various areas in Depok City.
“May this activity bring positive and tangible impacts on improving the quality of processed food in the city.”
Depok City
Depok City is a city in West Java, Indonesia, originally established in the 17th century as a private agricultural estate by Cornelis Chastelein, a Dutch colonial official. It evolved from a small settlement into a major hub, officially gaining city status in 1999. Today, it is a vibrant, densely populated part of the Jakarta metropolitan area, known for its universities and as a commuter city.
Home-Based Food Industries (PIRT)
“Home-Based Food Industries (PIRT)” refers to a certification and licensing system in Indonesia for small-scale food businesses operated from residences. It was established to ensure food safety and hygiene standards while empowering local micro-entrepreneurs. The PIRT permit allows home-based producers to legally market their traditional foods, snacks, and beverages, contributing to local economic development.
Good Processed Food Manufacturing Practices (CPPOB)
This is not a place or cultural site, but a set of regulations. Good Processed Food Manufacturing Practices (CPPOB) are a set of sanitary and hygienic guidelines for the food industry. They were established to ensure the production of safe food by controlling the entire manufacturing environment, from raw materials to the final product.
P-IRT certificate
The “P-IRT certificate” does not refer to a physical place or cultural site. It is a professional certification for individuals in the IT field, specifically the “PCI ISA (Internal Security Assessor) Recertification Training,” which validates expertise in payment card security standards.
small and medium industries (IKM)
“Small and Medium Industries (IKM) refers to a sector of small-to-midsize businesses that are a fundamental part of Indonesia’s economic structure and history. These enterprises, often rooted in local traditions and craftsmanship, have evolved from small-scale, family-run operations into a vital economic force. The IKM sector is officially supported by the government as a key driver for job creation, economic decentralization, and the preservation of cultural heritage.”
2025 Technical Guidance on Independent Implementation of CPPOB
This request appears to reference a regulatory document rather than a geographical place or cultural site. The “CPPOB” likely refers to China’s Cosmetic Production Quality Management Standard. As a technical guidance document, it provides implementation framework for cosmetic manufacturers rather than having a physical location or cultural history that could be summarized in the requested format.
Margo Hotel
I am unable to provide a specific summary for the “Margo Hotel” as it is not a widely recognized historical or cultural landmark. There are numerous hotels with this name around the world, making it impossible to identify a single history or significance. For an accurate summary, more specific details, such as its location, would be required.
Depok City Health Office
The Depok City Health Office is a local government institution responsible for public health management and services in Depok, Indonesia. Established to support the city’s formation in 1999, it oversees healthcare facilities, disease prevention, and health promotion programs for the community.
