A total of 120 uninhabitable houses in RW 12, Kopo Village, Bojongloa Kaler District, Bandung City, were officially handed over to residents. This activity is part of the 2025 Red and White House Renovation Mutual Cooperation Program initiated by the central government to accelerate the provision of adequate housing.
The handover of house keys also serves as a symbolic momentum for the implementation of the national housing program in Bandung City.
The Minister of Public Works and Housing emphasized that the housing sector is now receiving serious attention.
“This year, the government has allocated 350,000 subsidized houses, the largest number in history. This program not only provides decent homes but also drives the people’s economy,” said the Minister in Bojongloa Kaler District, Bandung City.
According to the Minister, renovating houses into habitable ones has a direct impact on creating new jobs, boosting the building materials industry, and opening business opportunities for small communities.
“In fact, many residents who were previously daily workers can now develop into housing entrepreneurs,” added the Minister.
The Provincial Governor emphasized that the provincial government aims to eliminate all slum houses in West Java within the next three years.
“Every house must have its own bathroom. No more residents defecating in rivers or fields. If there are those without toilets, the government will come to help,” said the Governor.
In addition to improving housing, the Provincial Government is also preparing protection for informal workers through an employment insurance scheme.
“If a casual worker gets sick or dies, their family remains protected,” explained the Governor.
Meanwhile, the Bandung Mayor reported on the progress of house renovations in his area. From a target of 500 units supported by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, 126 houses have been completed, 54 units are under construction, and the remainder are targeted for completion before Eid al-Fitr 2026.
“God willing, by next Ramadan, all beneficiary residents will be able to occupy decent and comfortable homes. This is proof of collaboration between the central government, local government, and social partners like Tzu Chi,” said the Mayor.
The Indonesian Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is a strategic partner in the Red and White House Renovation Program. Nationally, Tzu Chi is committed to renovating 4,000 houses by Eid al-Fitr 2026. Currently, 358 units have been completed, 3,417 units are in progress, and the rest will begin soon. In West Java, from a target of 2,000 houses, 131 units have been completed and 89 units are still being worked on.
“This is a humanitarian spirit across religions and sectors. The presence of Tzu Chi proves that care can unite us all,” said the Mayor.

The Minister of Housing and Settlements directly inspected the results of resident house renovations through the Red and White House Renovation Mutual Cooperation Program in Bojongloa Kaler District, Bandung City.
This program is a collaboration with the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, Summarecon, the Bandung City Government, and the Provincial Government to realize decent housing for low-income communities.
The Minister emphasized that renovating uninhabitable houses is an important part of the national target of the 3 Million Houses Program. This program applies the Private BSPS and Sharing Economics concept, where entrepreneurs share profits through house construction without using the state budget.
“The people need real solutions for housing problems, not just discussions in meeting rooms,” said the Minister.
The Minister handed over keys to the renovated houses alongside the West Java Governor, the Vice Chairman of Commission V of the House of Representatives, the Presidential Chief of Staff, the Bandung Mayor, and the Chairman of the Bandung Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation.
The key handover became a real symbol of cross-sectoral mutual cooperation to overcome the housing backlog.
