Strengthening the real sector is one of the main foundations for driving inclusive economic growth, while also creating a sustainable multiplier effect for regional economies.
In line with the national development direction outlined in the Asta Cita vision, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its Klasterku Hidupku program, is helping to promote food self-sufficiency, economic equity, and improved public welfare.
Cluster-based empowerment is an approach to strengthening the economic structure from the grassroots level. By grouping businesses based on similar sectors and regions, entrepreneurs not only grow individually but also connect within an ecosystem that enhances collective capacity and builds more integrated value chains at the local level.
As of March 2026, BRI has fostered 43,789 business clusters supported by around 3,000 empowerment activities, ranging from training to the provision of production facilities and infrastructure. These efforts are focused on real sectors that directly contribute to creating added value and driving regional economies.
Of the clusters fostered by BRI, 82.39% are in the production sector, with agriculture being the largest contributor at 48.26%. The remaining 17.61% come from the non-production sector. Both sectors serve as engines for value creation and key drivers of economic activity in the regions.
BRI’s Micro Director explained that BRI continues to develop the Klasterku Hidupku program as an empowerment approach to support business actors, including farmers, so they can grow sustainably and move up the value chain. “Community-based empowerment tends to be more effective for MSMEs because it targets not only financial aspects but also behavior, capacity, and business networks collectively,” he said.
He also noted that the cluster-based approach opens up opportunities for the emergence of high-value-added flagship commodities. “Through the cluster scheme, BRI not only provides access to financing but also strengthens connections between business actors within a mutually supportive ecosystem, thereby increasing collective production capacity,” he added.
In line with strengthening business clusters, BRI is also expanding financial access at the community level. Of the more than 508,000 cluster members, approximately 87.7% have accounts with BRI and are connected to financing facilities to support their business sustainability.
To ensure the sustainability of empowerment, this initiative complements various other BRI programs. As of March 2026, the Desa BRILiaN program has reached 5,245 villages. Meanwhile, BRI has also developed 54 Rumah BUMN centers that have empowered 559,897 MSME actors through 18,218 training activities. Additionally, the LinkUMKM platform has been used by 15.57 million users. All these initiatives are carried out in an integrated manner to strengthen BRI’s role as an agent of development in supporting MSMEs and driving national people-centered economic growth.
