The General Administration of Supply and Internal Trade Police launched several campaigns targeting crimes involving withholding cigarettes from circulation in markets to sell them at prices higher than the set rate.

These campaigns’ efforts last month resulted in the seizure of 10,282 various cases, with confiscations amounting to 548,138 packs of cigarettes, 62,136 pieces of electronic cigarettes, and supplies of 48.291 tons of tobacco, as follows:

A case of withholding and monopolizing was also seized, with confiscations of 13,500 packs of cigarettes and 10,500 pieces of hookah supplies. Additionally, 10,055 cases of selling above the set price were seized, with confiscations of 117,019 packs of cigarettes. Furthermore, 226 cases of goods of unknown origin were seized, with confiscations of 417,619 packs of cigarettes, 51,636 pieces of electronic cigarettes, and 48.291 tons of tobacco. Legal measures were taken.

This comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Interior’s agencies to protect consumers and tighten control over markets.
