TANGERANGNEWS.com- Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has confirmed that members of the council will no longer receive a housing allowance of 50 million rupiah per month after October 2025.
Dasco explained that the allowance is only provided for one year, from October 2024 to October 2025.
The monthly funds received will be used to cover housing contract costs during the five-year term of office from 2024 to 2029.
“So, after October 2025, after October 2025, DPR members will no longer receive housing contract allowances,” said Dasco at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta.
He explained that the payment system is being implemented in stages because the budget does not allow for a lump-sum payment.
“So, I repeat, DPR members receive a monthly housing allowance of 50 million rupiah from October 2024 until October 2025, which will be used for the housing contract during the five-year term of DPR members, from 2024 until 2029,” he stated.
Furthermore, Dasco added that starting in November 2025, the public will no longer see the 50 million rupiah figure in the list of DPR member allowances.
“Perhaps the previous explanation was incomplete, lacking in detail, which led to widespread controversy. It is indeed because the budget is insufficient to be provided all at once, so it is being paid in installments over one year, and that is also for the purpose of the DPR members’ five-year housing contract,” he added.
