The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the country’s participation in the 11th Foreign Policy Dialogue of the BRICS group, held in New Delhi under India’s chairmanship of the group.

In a statement published on its official page, the ministry affirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to constructive multilateral engagement and the promotion of South-South cooperation through its participation in this forum.

The Ethiopian delegation, led by Mekonnen Gusai, Director General for Strategic Planning and Monitoring at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, included senior foreign policy and planning officials, as well as experts from BRICS member states.

The dialogue focused on key global priorities, including resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability, providing a platform for exchanging views among participating countries.

Mekonnen emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to climate action, particularly through the Green Footprint initiative led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, which continues to mobilize nationwide efforts to restore ecosystems and enhance environmental sustainability.

He also highlighted Ethiopia’s ongoing economic and digital transformation, noting progress in infrastructure development, digital national identity systems, fintech solutions, and e-government services, as part of the country’s broader development trajectory.

Ethiopia further affirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation within the BRICS group, stressing knowledge exchange, green finance, and collective resilience as key pillars for sustainable development and shared prosperity.
