Surat. The Anti-Child Labor Task Force of Surat district raided Gagan Silk Mills Private Limited in the Kadodara-Vareli area of Palsana taluka and rescued three minor workers.
During the raid, three minors were found working, of which two are residents of Surat and one from Navsari. Preliminary investigation revealed that all of them had been working as cargo loaders from 9 AM to 5 PM for about the last two months. They were promised a monthly salary of 12,000 to 15,000 rupees in return.
The three children rescued by the Task Force have been sent to V. R. Popawala Balashram in Katargam as per the directions of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for further action.
According to the district Task Force, after verifying the age-related documents of the children, necessary legal action will be taken against the concerned unit. This action is considered part of the ongoing campaign against child labor.
