In a statement following a visit to the office, the Deputy Prime Minister confirmed that healthcare sector reforms in Ethiopia are increasingly focusing on a critical national priority: the elimination of preventable maternal and child mortality.

According to the statement, the region is making tangible progress through the development of modern infrastructure and the redesign of work environments.

However, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the most significant gains are being made in strengthening systems that ensure the delivery of high-quality and timely healthcare, particularly during the most sensitive moments in a person’s life.

It was also noted that the evolving healthcare environment reflects a growing focus on dignity, efficiency, and thoughtful design, factors described as fundamental to delivering high-quality care.

Despite the progress made, it was confirmed that achieving a lasting impact requires sustained focus and accountability.

The statement concluded by saying: “Health is a crown on the heads of the healthy.” “There is no higher measure of a health system’s success than the survival of mothers after childbirth and children reaching the age of five.”
