JATISAMPURNA — Spa and massage businesses operating in Jatisampurna District are allegedly employing dozens of therapists dressed provocatively, with some even revealing their undergarments.
This was observed on the spa’s Instagram account, sparking outrage among residents. It marks the first instance of a spa or massage business promoting their therapists in such revealing attire on social media.
“How could we not be shocked? The female therapists were nearly topless, and some even stripped down to just their bras,” said a local resident.
A community leader from Kalimanggis, who is also a member of a local religious organization, stated that the spa’s promotion of scantily clad therapists violates both local ethical standards and religious norms in Bekasi, particularly in the Jatikarya and Kranggan areas.
“We do not oppose businesses, but ethical standards must be upheld. Social media reaches a wide audience, including teenagers, so indecent content should not be carelessly disseminated,” he emphasized.
He also urged spa and massage businesses in Kalimanggis and surrounding areas to respect local cultural norms.
“The government must take strict action and shut down such establishments. Business licenses should not be granted without ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines. This is our country, not a foreign land,” he added.
He questioned whether the business was truly for health therapy or merely catering to indecent desires. “Our concern is the younger generation, who should not be exposed to such content on social media,” he concluded.
