HKBP Nommensen University (UHN) Medan collaborated with PT Pegadaian Regional Office I Medan to hold a literacy seminar titled “Building a Job-Ready Generation with Financial & Career Literacy”.

This activity is part of the 71st Anniversary series of UHN and also commemorates the 164th Anniversary of HKBP. The seminar, attended by hundreds of participants, was held at the 3rd Floor Auditorium of UHN Medan.

Appearing as speakers were the Head of PT Pegadaian Regional Office I Medan; Head of Human Resources Department; and Head of Business Department. Other Pegadaian leadership officials were also present.

“This collaboration has been established for a long time, where Nommensen students carry out internships at Pegadaian every year. We are open to more students being able to intern at Pegadaian outlets in the Regional Office I Medan area. In fact, in the future, cooperation can be developed in the form of research assistance,” said the Head of PT Pegadaian Regional Office I Medan.

The Head emphasized the importance of financial literacy for students. The knowledge gained today, he said, becomes valuable preparation after graduating from college.

“Many of our outstanding employees are Nommensen alumni. I believe Nommensen graduates will become drivers of Indonesia’s economy, extraordinary individuals ready to contribute to the nation,” he added.

The Rector of UHN Medan in his speech appreciated Pegadaian’s contribution in sharing financial literacy knowledge. According to the Rector, financial knowledge is very important so that students are prepared to face the working world after graduation.

The Rector hoped that through this activity, UHN Medan together with PT Pegadaian can instill financial awareness, build a competitive work mentality, and expand cooperation networks to improve the quality of graduates with global competitiveness.

“We hope that in the future there will be Pegadaian products that can support student financial literacy,” he stated.

Meanwhile in the presentation session, the Head of Human Resources Department explained the recruitment process in state-owned enterprises and provided tips to students who want to build careers in state-owned companies. He emphasized that all state-owned enterprise employees are free from BI Checking, so recruitment is neutral and objective.

While the Head of Business Department in his presentation explained various financial instruments that students can utilize from an early age. He also outlined the advantages and disadvantages of each instrument according to student needs.
