A dismissed police officer with the initials SP and four other suspects involved in drug abuse were apprehended by the Tigalingga Police at a farm hut in Namo Buah Hamlet, Sarintonu Village, Tigalingga District, Dairi Regency, North Sumatra.

“The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, July 28, 2025,” said the Dairi Police Chief during a press conference at the Dairi Police Headquarters on Sisingamangaraja Street, Sidikalang.

The suspects involved in drug abuse who were apprehended are:

  1. Initials SP (46), a dismissed police officer from Sidikalang; evidence seized included 200 grams of methamphetamine, and a urine test confirmed drug use.
  2. Initials ES (36), a resident of Sumbul Karo Village, Tigalingga District; urine test confirmed methamphetamine use.
  3. Initials AS (19), a resident of Kedeberek, Palding Jaya Sumbul Village, Tigalingga District; urine test confirmed methamphetamine use.
  4. Initials H (40), a resident of Sumbul Karo Village, Tigalingga District; urine test confirmed methamphetamine use.
  5. Initials RM (39), a resident of Sumbul Karo Village, Tigalingga District; urine test confirmed methamphetamine use.

“All five suspects were arrested at a farm hut in Namo Buah Hamlet, Sarintonu Village,” the Police Chief stated.

The arrests followed reports from concerned residents about rampant drug trafficking in Sarintonu Village, Tigalingga District. After an investigation, authorities located the hut used for drug transactions and consumption.

“During the raid, the Tigalingga Police Chief and officers apprehended five suspects and seized methamphetamine evidence from suspect SP,” the Police Chief added.

The suspects were detained at the Tigalingga Police Station before being transferred to the Dairi Police for further legal proceedings.

“In addition to the methamphetamine, we confiscated Rp 1,320,000 in cash, drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, four mobile phones, and a white Mitsubishi Xpander belonging to suspect SP,” he explained.

Suspect SP faces charges under Article 114, Paragraph 112(2) of Law No. 35 of 2009, with a maximum penalty of 20 years or life imprisonment.

The newly appointed Tigalingga Police Chief emphasized continued efforts to combat drug trafficking in the jurisdiction.

“We will eradicate drugs from the Tigalingga Police jurisdiction,” he asserted.

To prevent drug abuse, authorities will intensify awareness campaigns in schools and places of worship such as mosques and churches.

Residents of Sarintonu Village expressed gratitude to the Dairi and Tigalingga Police for uncovering the drug case.

“We are very thankful for the crackdown on drugs in Sarintonu Village,” said the Head of Namo Buah Hamlet, Sarintonu Village.

The press release on the drug case was attended by the Tigalingga District Secretary and witnessed by Sarintonu Village residents.
