The atmosphere in the main hall of the Metro Depok Police Station on Tuesday was bustling. A total of 42 representatives from online motorcycle taxi (ojol) communities from across Depok City gathered for an important moment: the formation of the management board for the Ojol Community Alliance at the Metro Depok Police Station level.

The Deputy Chief of the Metro Depok Police, who opened the event, emphasized the significant role of ojol drivers in modern daily life. According to him, ojol is not just a mode of transportation but also a support for the city’s economic wheel.

“The public’s economy is assisted, and the mobility of people and goods becomes easier. Therefore, cooperation between the police and ojol drivers is very important so that the needs of the community can be accommodated quickly,” he explained.

However, the role of ojol drivers does not stop at transportation services. The Deputy Chief sees ojol drivers as strategic partners for the police in maintaining public security and order.

“They can become the external eyes of the police. Information from ojol drivers on the road will be very valuable for us to prevent and handle criminal acts,” he added.

He also expressed hope that this established relationship can continue to be strengthened. The synergy between the police and the ojol community is expected to create a safer, more orderly, and conducive Depok.

“It is this spirit of togetherness that will enable us to protect this city together,” he concluded.
