Sabri Nakhno.

The case of businessman Sabri Nakhno has seen a new development following the arrest and detention of an Egyptian media figure, host of the program “The Sweet Spot” on the channel “Today’s Event,” as part of ongoing investigations in the case that is currently drawing public attention in Egypt.

Legal Measures

According to initial information, the media figure was detained while attempting to complete procedures for transferring or registering ownership of nine cars that were registered under Sabri Nakhno’s name, amid the public prosecutor’s decisions to freeze assets and properties linked to the case.

Ongoing Investigations

This step comes in parallel with the continuation of investigations conducted by the public prosecutor in the case known in the media as the “Fifth Settlement Incident,” which has seen a series of successive judicial and security measures over the past days.

Money Laundering Suspicions

The public prosecutor had previously announced the opening of a parallel financial investigation track, after inquiries revealed suspicions related to money laundering from criminal activities, and the use of multiple methods to conceal the sources and nature of those funds.

Seizure Orders

The prosecutor issued orders to seize the movable and immovable assets of the accused, including bank accounts, deposits, stocks, bonds, cars, and electronic wallets, with a ban on disposing of them until the investigations conclude and the case is finally resolved.

The measures also included placing a number of the accused on travel ban and arrival watch lists, as part of precautionary steps related to the progress of the investigations.

Case Origins

The details of the incident date back to a complaint filed by owners of a car showroom in the Fifth Settlement area, accusing Sabri Nakhno and others of assaulting them, causing injuries, and seizing a unit recording surveillance cameras after a brawl inside the showroom.

Weapons and Drugs Seized

During subsequent searches, the public prosecutor announced the seizure of firearms equipped with silencers, quantities of ammunition, narcotic substances, and other tools. The accused faced charges related to forming a criminal gang, engaging in thuggery, displaying force, and disrupting public security.

The case is currently one of the most prominent in Egypt, with the scope of investigations expanding and new names linked to the examined incidents emerging, amid anticipation for the results of judicial proceedings in the coming period.
