About: Two Holy Mosques

The Two Holy Mosques refer to Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Masjid al-Haram, which encloses the Kaaba, is the holiest site in Islam and the destination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, as well as the location for performing Umrah. Masjid an-Nabawi was built by the Prophet Muhammad in Medina, and it is the second holiest site in Islam; it also houses the tomb of the Prophet. Both mosques hold immense religious significance and have undergone extensive expansions and renovations throughout their histories to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims.
