Starting July 23, Moscow’s electric vehicle charging stations will transition to a paid model, according to the city’s transport department. The tariff will range from 15 to 20 kW•h depending on the type and power of the charger.

There are currently over 3,200 charging stations in Moscow, including those owned by private companies and those installed as part of the “Energy of Moscow” project (overseen by the city’s transport complex). In December 2024, the transport department announced a gradual shift of all stations to a paid model. Initially, this affected 39 locations, later expanding to 120. From July 23, all 350 city-operated stations will become paid.

The department explained that moving all stations to a paid model will allow authorities to install 500 new stations annually, attracting additional investments to the project.
