In June this year, a group was arrested in Gifu Prefecture on suspicion of reckless driving, including swerving on a national highway while riding in eight motorcycles and cars.

According to the Gifu Prefectural Police, the group is suspected of engaging in reckless behavior, such as weaving on National Route 21 from Gifu City to Mizuho City in the early hours of June 9 this year.

The reckless driving involved one 20-year-old man and 13 teenage boys and girls riding in eight vehicles. Among them, a high school girl riding a moped collided with a passenger car at an intersection in Mizuho City and died. The cause is believed to be running a red light.

Police have arrested and charged seven individuals who were driving motorcycles or cars as of today. Regarding the high school girl, she was charged posthumously due to her death.

The seven arrested individuals reportedly admitted to the allegations, with statements such as “We went too far.”
