A fire occurred at an apartment in Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, burning five units. There were no injuries.
Flames and large plumes of black smoke rose from the first floor of the apartment building.
The fire took place at a three-story apartment building in Nakaezu, Kani City, Gifu Prefecture. Around 11:50 AM today, a male resident reported “There’s a fire!” to the police.
According to authorities, the fire was extinguished about an hour later, but five rooms were burned, including the room on the first floor where the fire started.
A 43-year-old man of Philippine nationality and his 13-year-old son were in the room where the fire originated, but they escaped safely. Five people in the adjacent rooms that caught fire were also unharmed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
