On the 17th, a 38-year-old man was arrested in Mihama Town, Aichi Prefecture, for hitting a man on a bicycle, causing serious injuries, and then fleeing the scene.
The suspect arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run is Kazuya Ogawa (38), a company employee from Taketoyo Town.
According to the police, at around 10:30 a.m. on the 17th, while driving a light car on a national highway in Noma, Mihama Town, Ogawa allegedly hit a 53-year-old male company employee from Gamagori City who was riding a bicycle, and then fled the scene.
The man suffered serious injuries, including a fractured skull from a severe blow to the head.
In response to police questioning, Ogawa partially denied the allegations, stating, “I think this is a traffic accident I caused, but I have no memory of being involved in a traffic accident.”
The police identified Ogawa based on witness reports of the accident and are investigating the details of the incident.
