Cloudflare’s internet infrastructure service experienced an outage on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, causing difficulties accessing a number of websites and applications.

Several platforms such as X, Shopify, and some OpenAI services were inaccessible, including the online news site Tangerangnews.com.

Cloudflare confirmed there was an issue with its network. In a statement, Cloudflare explained that an unusual traffic surge occurred in one of its services.

“We observed an unusual traffic spike to one of the services, which caused some traffic passing through that network to experience disruptions,” said a Cloudflare spokesperson.

Cloudflare also stated that the cause of the unusual traffic spike is not yet known.

“We are all on standby to ensure all traffic is served without errors,” emphasized Cloudflare.

Cloudflare reported that repair efforts are still underway, as noted in an official update at 21:22 Western Indonesia Time. Cloudflare is a widely used service provider by businesses in various countries, supporting the management and security of approximately 20 percent of the world’s websites.

The services offered include Distributed Denial of Service attack mitigation, which involves overwhelming a system with excessive requests until it becomes inoperable.

This situation impacted Cloudflare’s stock value, which fell by more than three percent. This incident also occurred less than a month after a major outage at Amazon Web Services, followed by a global outage in Microsoft Azure and 365 services.

In July 2024, a problematic software update from CrowdStrike caused widespread disruptions affecting flights, financial services, and even hospital operations.
