The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Metro Tangerang City Police successfully uncovered a case of alleged sand lobster seed (BBL) sales without official documentation.

The case was uncovered based on information from the public regarding suspicious activity related to the management of illegal BBL in the Duta Gardenia Mediterania Cluster housing complex, Jurumudi Village, Benda District, Tangerang City, around 1:00 PM local time.

During the operation, officers secured two suspects, with the initials AA, 31, and AR, 29.

Both were found to be managing clear lobster seed without possessing valid licensing documents, intended for shipment to Singapore.

The Metro Tangerang City Police Chief explained that the suspects are alleged to have violated criminal provisions in the fisheries sector.

“From the examination at the location, we found thousands of sand lobster seeds without official documentation. A total of approximately 30,000 BBL specimens were successfully secured,” he explained.

In addition to the BBL, officers also secured a number of supporting pieces of evidence, including four suitcases, an oxygen tank, mobile phones, a savings book, and other equipment suspected of being used in the illegal lobster seed sales and distribution activity.

“This disclosure is part of the Metro Tangerang City Police’s commitment to supporting efforts to protect marine and fishery resources and to firmly crack down on illegal practices that harm the state,” he added.

Currently, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Tangerang City Police is conducting a case presentation, completing the investigation process, and coordinating with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for further handling in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

“The threat is a prison sentence of up to 8 years, with estimated state losses reaching Rp3.3 billion,” said the Police Chief.
