Deputy Governor of Banten, A Dimyati Natakusumah, has instructed to stop and cancel the memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding waste management between the Tangerang Selatan City Government and the Pandeglang Regency Government.

“I have studied and reviewed it, and I have even summoned the Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang and the Regent of Pandeglang regarding this matter,” stated Dimyati Natakusumah.

Furthermore, Dimyati requested that the MoU between the Pandeglang Regency Government and the Tangerang Selatan City Government concerning waste management be canceled.

“I do not want any waste disposal before the location is improved first and the aspirations of the community are considered. If the community’s aspirations demand not to proceed with it, then it should not be done,” he said.

Dimyati also mentioned that he had personally inspected the condition of the Bangkonol Landfill and received several aspirations conveyed by the community.

“Now I am not just urging; this is an instruction to cancel that MoU. So, the MoU between South Tangerang and Pandeglang Regency,” he added.

In addition, Dimyati also advised the Tangerang Selatan City Government to seek another location and not continue waste disposal to the Bangkonol Landfill, as the conditions are not yet ready.

“So I request the cancellation of the MoU, and please, Tangsel, manage its own waste and find a space where cooperation is possible. There was also a plan with Bogor; proceed with Bogor if needed, but with Pandeglang, because the control span is too far and not yet ready. So cancel it,” he concluded.
