Motif of Cilok Seller Murder in Tangerang: Perpetrator Resentful of Frequent Extortion
Police have revealed the motive behind the murder of a meatball seller identified as P, 33, who was found dead in a pool of blood at his rented house in Pasir Gadung Village, Cikupa District, Tangerang Regency.
Based on preliminary investigations, the murder was triggered by a long-held grudge by the suspect, MS, 17, who had often been intimidated and asked for money by the victim.
“According to the suspect’s statement, it was due to revenge. The suspect was hurt because he was frequently intimidated and asked for money by the victim,” said an official on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Before the murder occurred, MS, who also worked as a meatball seller, had told his father, BT, 41, about the victim’s behavior. He admitted to his father that the victim often extorted and demanded money from him.
After hearing this story, BT and his son went to the victim’s rented house, where they are strongly suspected of collaborating in the murder using a sharp weapon.
“Yes, both of them (carried out the murder),” the official explained.
Previously reported, authorities managed to secure BT, 41, and MS, 17, at the Pasar Rebo Terminal in East Jakarta on Friday, June 5, 2026. Both were apprehended while trying to flee to Central Java.
Meanwhile, the identification team’s examination found at least eight wounds from sharp weapons on the victim’s body. These wounds were discovered during the identification process of the body found at his rented house on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Investigators are continuing to delve into the case, including intensively interrogating both suspects to fully uncover the sequence of events and the motive for the murder. The results of further investigations are planned to be announced at a press conference on Monday, June 8, 2026.
