A number of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers held a peaceful demonstration in front of the Tangsel Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) building.

It was stated that this action was an effort to keep Tangsel peaceful. “We are here holding a peaceful action to keep the area safe and under control,” it was said.

It was also requested that other fellow drivers not be provoked by irresponsible parties. “Hopefully friends can guard the area and not be provoked,” it was said.

It was conveyed that maintaining order in the area is important so that the people of Tangsel feel safe. “I am ready to support the Tangsel Government and DPRD,” it concluded.

Meanwhile, the Tangsel DPRD building was heavily guarded by police officers since the morning after information circulated about a planned protest action from several community groups.

Dozens of police personnel were seen on standby at several strategic points, including at the main entrance and the area around the DPRD building.

Security was also reinforced with tactical vehicles to anticipate any unwanted incidents.

According to information circulating on WhatsApp, this demonstration was triggered by public disappointment over several regional policies considered detrimental to ordinary people.

Tangsel Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) building

The Tangsel Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) building is the seat of government for the local legislature of South Tangerang (Tangerang Selatan), a city in Indonesia’s Banten province. It was established following the city’s official formation as an autonomous administrative region separate from Tangerang Regency in 2008. The building serves as the center for local lawmaking and political discourse for the municipality.
