The Office for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) of Tangerang Regency recorded 120 cases of harassment and sexual violence from January to May 2026. Most victims were school-age children.

The head of DP3A Tangerang Regency stated that all victims of sexual harassment have received assistance and psychological recovery services.

“From January to May, around 120 cases were reported to DP3A, and we have provided trauma healing to the victims. The legal process is handled by the police,” he said on Friday, June 5, 2026.

He noted that the high number of harassment cases has become a serious concern for the local government.

In addition, DP3A continues to conduct outreach as a preventive effort, starting from schools, community environments, to village and sub-district levels.

He explained that to help recover the mental condition and trauma experienced, victims of harassment and sexual violence will receive psychological assistance services.

DP3A will collaborate with the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for Women and Child Protection (UPTD PPA) and several psychologists to help restore the victims’ mental condition.

“We strive to provide assistance to victims to treat their trauma until they recover,” he explained.

Furthermore, DP3A helps victims and their families through legal consultations and reporting assistance. This is done to ensure law enforcement in cases of harassment and sexual violence against victims continues.

He stated that the recovery process for victims of sexual harassment can vary depending on the psychological condition of each individual.

The duration of assistance needed by victims depends on the assessment results made by psychologists.

“Whether the person can recover in one, two, or three sessions depends on the psychologist’s evaluation,” he said.

DP3A has also formed task forces for the protection of women and children at the village and sub-district levels to expand access to protection.

Victims and their families can also report cases through the Sahabat Perempuan dan Anak (SAPA) 129 service.

He mentioned that most cases of sexual violence were committed by people close to the victims.

Therefore, he urged parents to increase supervision of their children to anticipate cases of sexual violence committed by those close to them.

“We urge parents to better protect and pay attention to their children because sexual harassment and violence usually occur in the immediate environment. The role of parents is very important in monitoring and providing protection to children,” he concluded.
