TANGERANGNEWS.com—South Tangerang Deputy Mayor Pilar Saga Ichsan confirmed that the city is ready to host the 2026 Banten Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). Currently, preparations have reached 30% completion.

He made this statement after opening the 2025 C’MORE Pencak Silat Championship Festival at the South Tangerang City Hall Field on Friday, July 18, 2025.

“God willing, we as the host city are ready for the event, and the venues will also be prepared,” said Pilar.

According to him, communication between the South Tangerang City Government, the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of Banten Province, and the Banten Provincial Sports Office has been ongoing intensively.

“Preparations have reached 30%. We are now waiting to present the progress directly to the Mayor. A follow-up technical meeting will also be held soon,” Pilar added.

Pilar is optimistic that South Tangerang is ready both in terms of technical execution and venue availability.

Although the budget details are not yet finalized pending approval, most technical requirements have already been identified by the Sports Office and related agencies.

“God willing, it is now being finalized. I cannot yet disclose the exact amount since the budget has not been approved. However, the Sports Office already has a detailed understanding of the requirements,” he explained.

Regarding the number of sports disciplines, approximately 45 events are expected to be contested. Some venues will host multiple disciplines as they are deemed suitable.

The venues will be sourced from various parties, including city government facilities, borrowed from other institutions, and through partnerships with private entities.

He added that many have advised the city government to maximize the use of existing venues for budget efficiency.

“We can allocate the budget wisely. Some facilities can be utilized from universities, companies, or private entities. It would be a waste if they were built but not used, as maintenance would still be required,” he said.
